The new year is a great time for setting goals and starting anew. Besides the classic goals for healthy eating and exercising, the new year is also a perfect time for financial goals.
I often get emails and comments from readers who want to get started paying off debt or want to make headway on their savings goals, but don’t know how to get started. Some wonder how to spend less on groceries and household expenses. Others want to know how to effectively create and use a budget.
Between the frugality in my genes and the thriftiness I married into, a lot of what we do to save money comes as second nature to me. If you struggle with pinching pennies or feel overwhelmed with your financial situation, I have just the thing for you!
I’m excited to introduce the upcoming series on Six Figures Under. During the month of January, I want to focus on starting fresh with finances and creating frugal habits. Join me each weekday in January (starting January 5th) for the Frugal Fresh Start Challenge to learn the basics of budgeting, being frugal, and getting your finances in order. Whether you’re just getting started or you need to recommit, it’s a perfect time to revamp your finances and make strides toward your goals.
We will cover lots of different topics throughout the month to help you form new frugal habits, lower your expenses, and get your finances in order. Each day’s post will end with a challenge, so you can apply the day’s principle in a practical and meaningful way.
I hope you’ll join along!

Oooooh…can’t wait! DH and I just did our “2015 Budget Summit” (yes, it is a whole thing) and we are projected debt free by fall 2015! *happy dance* *frolic* *confetti* I know you will have some great ideas that may help us expedite this process!

I am really looking forward to this series. I just have students loans and my car to pay off and then I’ll be 100% debt free….but the student loans…oh, what a mountain…not impossible, but it’ll be a challenge and some sacrifice and it’ll start with getting my budget in order 🙂 🙂 I”ve started blogging a little bit about what I do do save money on every day things, but I’m not sure how to blog about getting out of debt. Anyways, I’m really looking forward to the start of this series 🙂 🙂 Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather 🙂 🙂 🙂

Thanks for offering this to start the New year off right. I have just become semi debt free and need a new plan of action to carry us to the retirement years. Can’t wait to see what you ahve in store for us…

THANK YOU for doing this! I really need this right now and I’m looking forward to participating in the challenges. I did make some headway with my finances in 2014, but then we had multiple big expenses come up all in a row towards the end of the year (new transmission, basically having to get our carport rebuilt along with a new roof, a retaining wall collapsing along our backyard) that set us back and then a pay cut for me. We depleted our savings and we had to finance part of the work on the carport/roof. So we are starting this year off in worse financial shape than we did last year. Very discouraging, but I’m committed to making significant progress in 2015.
